Choose a PET bottle label remover by assessing how labels detach and where they go. Air-assisted and water-assisted routes create different factory interfaces. Compare the actual bottle-and-label combination, collection arrangement and downstream washing result; the medium alone does not establish final flake quality.
Jiangsu ASG Packaging Machinery Group describes its plastic bottle label remover as using knives to cut and peel labels from whole bottles, then blowing them into a collection chute. This identifies a mechanism to assess, rather than compatibility with every label or adhesive.

ASG describes its wet version as using a water stream to carry labels away while washing the bottles. This different arrangement does not establish that wet removal replaces later washing stages or removes every adhesive.

Identify the complete label application
Provide intact examples showing label material, sleeve or wrap construction, attachment method, printed layers and adhesive where known. Identify unknown materials. Keep distinct combinations identifiable rather than mixing them into an unexplained average sample.
Record bottle shape and incoming condition, including flattened bottles, dirt and remaining contents where present. Supply representative material as it will arrive. Mark hand preparation or prewashing, so its effect remains visible in the comparison.
Follow the air route through to collection
For the air-assisted proposal, request a drawing of the label outlet and receiving collection arrangement. Ask which air-moving equipment, ducting, containers and connections are included. Identify separately supplied items; a collection chute does not specify the complete installation.
During the agreed assessment, follow detached labels to the collection point. Record labels remaining on bottles, detached material carried forward and bottle material entering the collected fraction. A label cut loose inside the machine is different from one collected outside the bottle stream.
Put the wet route inside a defined water loop
For the wet proposal, mark water supply, label-bearing discharge and solids collection on the diagram. If circulation, filtration or treatment is proposed, identify its equipment and responsibility. Ask how recovered labels leave the system and which connections the factory provides.
Record whether the demonstration uses fresh water, an agreed circulating arrangement or a temporary supply. Have the supplier assess water condition and cleaning for your material. Keep unverified reuse assumptions open; wet is not a water-consumption or discharge-quality guarantee.
Separate label detachment from final PET quality
RecyClass evaluates labels and adhesives through a laboratory protocol distinguishing label separation, adhesive behaviour and recovered PET condition. This supports separate assessment questions. It is not an ASG equipment approval, a machine-setting recipe or evidence that a demonstrated stream meets a particular end-use requirement.

Inspect the whole-bottle outlet for remaining labels and adhesive, then separately assess flakes after the agreed downstream process. Identify the stages used for that result. Do not attribute a complete washing-line outcome to the label remover or judge residual adhesive only from a distant photograph.
Compare the same batch at named observation points
Use representative portions of the same documented bottle batch. Agree preparation, included equipment and operating conditions with the supplier. Record changes between runs, including label mix and water condition where relevant, so a selected easy sample does not become the assumed project scope.
Define how remaining labels and collected material are assessed at each outlet. For a reported removal percentage, state whether it measures bottles, label area or material mass, and where sampling occurs. Different denominators and observation points are not equivalent results.
Keep the recovered PET specification separate from label removal. Ask the receiving processor to identify residual-contamination checks and sample condition. A cleaner-looking bottle does not confirm washed-flake properties or suitability for a new application.
Include the collection and maintenance handover
ASG describes removable knives that can be sharpened and replaced for both arrangements. Request applicable maintenance instructions, wear-part scope and access requirements. Establish who supplies replacement parts and what the factory team needs to follow those instructions.
Include emptying and cleaning of label collection equipment in the review. For a quoted water loop, identify solids removal and cleaning responsibilities. Record these tasks alongside the machine assessment instead of assuming detached labels disappear without further handling.
Choose the arrangement your complete process can support
Select the route whose assessed removal result and collection interfaces fit the process. Compare washing bottles during wet removal against the actual water-loop scope. Keep remaining adhesive, downstream washing and untested label combinations visible as separate decisions requiring confirmation.
Send ASG intact bottle-and-label examples, the incoming-condition record and marked outlet diagram. Request a comparison showing what detached, what was collected and what remained for downstream processing. This makes the decision more useful than a machine name or an unexplained removal figure.
